With a million options in the market to choose from, picking out the right entertainment ideas for corporate events can be the toughest code to crack.
There’s the expectation that entertainment should be bright, fresh and original. Anything less can render it cliché, while anything too bold or ‘out there’ runs the risk of not resonating.
So where do you begin? Here are three entertainment strategies to complement and make the most of your next event.
1. Start at the foundation and build it out
Many clients start at the entertainment, when in fact entertainment is designed to complement the event! So start with pouring the foundation – laying down the event objectives and desired outcomes, then build it backwards with the message, program and theme to infuse those elements into every stage.
Consider entertainment like the gold thread you weave through the foundation to make it better and stronger. It should highlight and complement all those core event ingredients. For example, if you’re running a launch for a new brand of accessories, where the objective is to ingrain the brand and sell, add styling stations where guests can pick out colours to suit their complexion and get up close and personal with the product.
2. Consider what guests want to take away
When we think entertainment, we often think of singers and bands, entertainers weaving through the crowd or a flashy fireworks show. These can all infuse a wow factor into events, but consider what your guests want to take away. Is it knowledge from a speaker? An opportunity to connect? These are things that might not spring to mind, but they do count as entertainment, making it so important to know your market first.
3. Gift something symbolic of your brand
Do you have a catchword or slogan, or an object that’s emblematic of your brand? Do you have a term that describes your customer fan-base? Why not customise your own catchword or slogan as a limited run item and gift it to guests? This isn’t traditional entertainment although it most definitely entertains. Coupled with an inspirational speech, it can drive the core message deeper and makes guests feel part of something exclusive – evoking a feeling not just a visual.
